The Only True Test of Any Theory

In business and in the free market, the only test for the validity of an idea or course of action is, “Does it work?”  The only way that you can tell whether or not a theory or principle is true is by testing it in the real world. Does it work? Does it bring about positive results? Does it bring about better results than another other system or theory? Read the rest of this entry »

Theory X versus Theory Y

In the 1960’s, Harvard Psychologist Alex Mackenzie suggested two visions of people in the workplace, each leading to different forms of motivation in organizations. McGregor called these two views of mankind, “Theory X” and “Theory Y. Read the rest of this entry »

Something For Nothing: Greed

Forging Your Self-Confidence: Part 2

Posted by Brian Tracy on Oct 19, 2009

kid-flexingSome years ago, a young man named Tim came to one of my personal-development seminars. He was shy and introverted. His handshake was weak and he had tremendous difficulty making eye contact. He sat in the back of the seminar room with his head down, taking notes. He seemed to have few friends, and he didn’t socialize very much during the breaks. At the end of the seminar, he told me that he was in sales and hadn’t been doing very well up to that time. But he had resolved to change, to go to work on himself, to overcome his shyness and to become very good at selling for his company. He then said good-bye, and I wished him the best of luck as he went on his way. Read the rest of this entry »

Forging Your Self-Confidence: Part 1

Posted by Brian Tracy on Oct 13, 2009

surfing-huge-waveA young woman wrote to me recently, telling me that her whole life had taken a different turn since she heard me ask the question, “What one great thing would you dare to dream if you knew you could not fail?” She wrote that, up to that time, this was a question she had never even dared to consider, but now, she thought of nothing else. She had realized, in a great, blinding flash of clarity, that the main thing separating her from her hopes and dreams was the belief in her ability to achieve them. Read the rest of this entry »

“Concentrate your strengths against your competitor’s relative weakness.”

—Bruce Henderson

There is a military adage that says, “No strategy ever survives first contact with the enemy.” No business strategy ever survives first contact with the marketplace, as well. It must always be adjusted to deal with the realities of the moment. Read the rest of this entry »

Living Without Limits

Posted by Brian Tracy on Oct 7, 2009

unlockThe starting point of great success and achievement has always been the same. It is for you to dream big dreams. There is nothing more important, and nothing that works faster than for you to cast off your own limitations than for you to begin dreaming and fantasizing about the wonderful things that you can become, have, and do.
